My Experience with the “Conjuring” house

Some years back perhaps around 2011 or 2012, I was working at a paranormal site. The site was called, “United Paranormal International”. I had held a couple of positions there but at this time I was titledInternational Membership Chairman. Mostly I invited people to the sight who were involved or interested in the paranormal. It was actually compelling and kinda fun as I met and recruited some big names from the wider para-community.

One day I find myself texting to the lady who had lived in the original “Conjuring” house. She had been a teenager at the time that the Warrens did there investigation. Highly fascinating for someone like me who was intently interested  in hauntings and the world of the paranormal.

Anyway she told me that she had just published the first book in what eventually became a trilogy. She and I met and talked via Skype. We didn’t go into the haunting much I don’t like to have anyone feel uncomfortable like I’m drilling them on the matter and just wanted to make a connection with the lady. We chatted politely and I finished by telling her I’d buy the ebook of her story.

The next day while intently reading, I’m engrossed by the story of the house. Starting with how it came about and how her mom had put down the deposit before telling her husband. But she loved this old Road Island farmhouse after meeting the fellow who’d grown old there and thought she and her family would be a perfect fit. A weird energy seemed to seep into our one bedroom apartment. I however didn’t think much of it at the time.

That night I had some creepy dreams. Nothing specific that I can recall just waking up a couple of times during the night feeling uneasy and a little weird. There was a sort of thickness of the shadow and darkness in the room. But I dismissed it as just having bad dreams and the lingering sensations that can bring upon awakening.

The next morning after my hubby went off to work I started reading the ebook again. Pretty good writing actually! Suddenly I hear a cracking noise and my little dog starts barking like crazy. He does that as he doesn’t like noises. I calm him down and start my daily chores. By the time I’m done with the laundry it’s nearly time to start supper. However even though it’s late spring in Washington state, the apartment is a tad chilly.

Now here I’d like to add at this time I was studying and practicing Wicca and Reiki. So after thinking about the weirdness, strange sounds and smells along with me finding my small wooden gnome broken in half (Temmynook, RIP dear fellow)

I deleted the story about the haunting after sending a copy to my witch school sister MOONChild to see what she thought of it.

I smudged the apartment and it was done. No more unusual weirdness in my house! Well of course we had the everyday weirdness that often goes in the life of a paranormal investigator, witch and Reiki master.

Fast forward to 2013 when we had moved from Washington state to the great state of Texas. We lived in Van Horn in a little house just off of highway 10. As life adjusts from the move. The gal from the original “Conjuring” house and I are trading text and she mentions the movie  soon to be released to theaters!

Another member of U.P.I. named Royce, had an online “live” radio show and I’d gotten the lady to agree to do the show to help promote the new movie. I was to join the broadcast to give my view on her book and the movie.

Shortly after the movie was released I tried to find it playing somewhere close to me. The closest city with movie theaters was El Paso but none of the many theaters were playing the movie in question. Arrgh! So I kept looking. I found it playing in Odessa but that was even farther away than El Paso (over 200 miles) but we traveled pretty far. Van Horn is not really close to much but desert, mountains and rattle snakes. So I found a theater there in Odessa and made plans to go.

A few days later we head off to see thispromisedto be scary movie. On our way out of town we stopped by the post office and retrieved what packages and mail we had, then went on the nearly 3 hr drive to see this long anticipated movie.

No, “spoiler alerts” as this story is not really about the haunting of that notoriously haunted Road Island farmhouse or that movie. It’s mostly about the events that happened to us afterwards.

We hopped into our vehicle and started on the long trek home. Hubby turns on the radio and I settle in for the long ride. We are about 10 minutes down the freeway when the volume of the radio starts going up and down. I get this confused look from my husband as he reaches over to adjust it and suddenly it starts changing channels!

I’d like to mention here that my wonderful husband was very supportive of my life path as a witch, paranormal investigator. But he didn’t like being in the middle of any “SPOOKY” stuff. I think at the time it freaked him out.

Slight panic on his face and trying to maintain driving I knew my sweetie was worried about this. Just then I remembered the post and what had arrived just that morning. I looked him in the eye and told him, “I’ve got this!” I then reached around to the backseat where the contents of our P.O. Box set. I pulled out and unwrapped a package of sage incense and light a couple up and snugged the heck out of that radio an the cab of our truck. After that the radio went back to normal!

Later (still driving the long way home) we stop at a rest stop to stretch our legs and visit the restroom. I found a small fresh scratch on my arm that I knew for a fact wasn’t there earlier. (Of course I never told hubby about that, no need to worry him further)

So you might think to yourself, “and that was that” but you’d be wrong! A few days later I still had the radio show to do with Royce and the lady from the Conjuring house.

The day of the show I turned it on with a bit of difficulty. The WiFi was awful in that area. Igot the show on and had a heck of a time calling in to be part of the broadcast. By the second part of the presentation I did finally get on the air.

Royce had a habit of putting recordings of his “Redneck Radio Man” show on YouTube. The weird thing is he died without posting the second half of the 2013 show dying in 2015.
